Recycling of waste foils

The company Optiplast and the partner company DDO carry out the recycling of waste polyethylene foil. We own a recycling yard for storing foil before use and a modern recycling line.

How we recycle plastic waste

Sorting

Sorting is the first and one of the most important stages in recycling plastic waste. In the sorting phase, different types and colours of polyethylene foil are separated, and other different wastes (paper, wood, metal, glass, etc.) are removed. The goal of this process is to get a sorted foil from which it is possible to obtain a good secondary granulate.

Milling

The sorted foil is transferred to the mill (agglomerate) at the beginning of the recycling line, which is then milled and prepared for extrusion. Good preparation of material is extremely important for continuous and high quality extrusion. In the case it is necessary, at this stage additives may be added to the material for the purpose of secondary material.

Extrusion

The extrusion is the process of heating the material above the melting point, then moving it through several layers of mechanical filtration and degassing. Throughout the entire process, the material is completely homogenised to obtain a uniform granularity.
